Hi! I'm Alex Kessler, an environmental consultant and translational scientist. After surviving CIRS, I pivoted ten years of precision medicine training into a public mission: offer guidance on mold and indoor air quality grounded in real-world practicality, not marketing. My YouTube channel (2M+ views), healthy home course, and 1:1 virtual consultations serve renters and homeowners, and the chronically ill (CIRS, etc).
When you have an environmental illness like CIRS, conventional advice generally points you in one of two directions: build a new home from scratch, or completely gut an existing home. For most people, these options are not feasible.
I offer alternative approaches:
1.) We can work with what you have, whether you rent or own. I'll help you reduce mold exposure and improve your air quality with measurable changes - even if you're unable to spend large amounts of money or make structural alterations to your home. My approach is to teach you to be your own environmental expert, so you can avoid ineffective products and harmful advice. This is a DIY skill you'll use for life, no matter where you live.
If you’re able to remediate, I can help you ensure it gets done safely and thoroughly. I can also help you begin to understand why you might still be feeling sick after remediation.
2.) I can help you navigate the process of moving. I'll teach you how to properly screen, test, and inspect homes. We can also discuss the intersection between your climate and your home. I also love helping clients explore which climates and natural spaces might be more supportive of their well-being.
I came to this work the hard way, through the lived experience of becoming severely chronically ill from biotoxin exposure. During the worst of my illness, I was bed-ridden and unable to do anything without getting dizzy. My other symptoms were too numerous to even list. The experience of descending and clawing my way back upward taught me things no certification program can. It gave me a calling: to help bring people back into alignment with their environments. I love doing this, and I consider it an honor to be of service to you.
I call myself an indoor/outdoor environmental consultant because my approach is inspired by the natural world. I aim to recreate indoor conditions closer to the outdoors, because that is what our physiology evolved to thrive in. I believe it is deeply healing to cultivate a relationship with nature, and I can show you how. Sunlight, fresh air, diverse microbial ecosystems - if we all had more of these, environmental illness rates would decline significantly.
I check in with you about what feels right for you in terms of capacity, overwhelm, and budget. I also try to listen to what you actually need from me instead of sticking rigidly to what I feel is best.
I understand that you may be dealing with a very challenging situation. I believe it’s just as important that you leave a consultation feeling emotionally supported as it is that you receive good recommendations.

Translational Scientist Background
Ten years reading peer-reviewed research and translating it to clinical practice in precision medicine and cancer genomics. The same methodology now powers every Healthy Home Guide protocol.
Lived Experience with Mold Illness
I navigated CIRS myself across multiple toxic buildings. I listen like someone who's been there - because I have.
Built for Renters and the Priced-Out
Quoted tens of thousands for remediation you can't afford or aren't allowed to do? I teach DIY methods that require no alterations, save serious money, and are scientifically grounded - for homes you own and homes you rent.
2 Million Views and 30K Subscribers on Youtube
I've helped countless people improve their air quality. Check out my testimonials to see the impact. Subjecting my ideas to the scrutiny of millions of people has helped me refine my approach, and has made me aware of my blind spots.
